Masks Optional Effective 05/01/2023

The Aviary is making a policy change to be mask optional starting Monday, May 1st, 2023. We are grateful to our community for continuously masking in the studio over the past three years and we are asking for your help to be kind and respectful as we make this shift to optional masking.

We realize that many of you are excited to be mask free in the studio again. We also recognize vulnerable staff and students are less excited about a mask-optional environment. Although our local population is highly vaccinated and COVID levels are low in Washtenaw and surrounding counties, we understand that it can be stressful to some to be inside with unmasked individuals. To meet the needs of the most vulnerable, The Aviary will not be entirely mask free.

If students are experiencing any of the following symptoms (fever, severe sore throat, lingering fatigue, stomach-related symptoms), we ask that they please stay home so as to not spread germs. Symptoms must be gone for at least 24 hours before returning to The Aviary.

Students should also wear a mask if...

  • The student lives with a person experiencing the symptoms above.

  • The student is experiencing mild symptoms such as sneezing, stuffy or runny nose, etc.

  • An instructor or other student asks for masks to be worn in class.

  • The county the student resides in is recommending masks be worn.

If you have a request for your class to be masked, please let us know via email at least one week prior to the start of the series at contact@a2aviary.com so that we can communicate with all parties. If an instructor or student has made a request ahead of time, the class participants will receive email communication. The identity of the requester will not be shared with other students in their class or the instructor (unless written permission is granted by the requesting instructor or student).

Thank you for flying with us. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority.
